Michael & Kristy's Engagement

Michael and Kristy are planning a sort of vintage wedding in 2010, so they decided their engagement photos should reflect the same era. It was a really fun session to shoot, I enjoyed brainstorming ideas with these two as the session progressed. Michael is a graphic artist, like myself, so I have to admit I was a little nervous to pull off the look they were asking for. I was so happy when they expressed that the images were just what they wanted. I take it as a compliment when another artist hires me to create images for them...I know what it can be like to have to give up the artistic control, it's not an easy thing to do for us creative folk ;^) Well, Mike and Kristy, I thank you for the opportunity and I was so glad to have designed your Save the Date Postcards and I look forward to creating your Invtations! Hope the wedding planning goes smoothly in the coming months! To see more of this couple, visit their wedding website I created at www.lisaorsi.printroom.com/081310

Tom & Kiera's Wedding

That's right, pumpkins. (Again, I apologize for my tardiness in posting, holy cow, I am behind on posting...better late than never, right?!) So, this wedding was a first for me, it was on October 31st. While Kiera said that it wasn't a 'halloween themed wedding', costume parts still somehow made their way into the scene, ie. wigs, hair accessories, vampire teeth and the like. Made for a fun night! And those pumpkins, who doesn't love those pumpkins with the I DO on them...super cute. Kiera came to me from the referral of a mother of a past groom - (by the way, thanks Diane!) I simply fell in love with these two, they are so amazingly real together. When they danced at their wedding, it was seriously like no one else was in the room. He sang to her all night long, she sang back and they laughed together...it was priceless. Tom and Kiera, I am still sad that you didn't feel it necessary to take me on your tropical honeymoon as your personal photographer, but I will eventually forgive you, I promise. On a serious note, though, I wish you both a lifetime of laughter and good times! To see more of this couple, visit their wedding website at www.lisaorsi.printroom.com/103109

Keith & Nicole's Engagement

Ok, so it's been a rough winter, I am just now posting this engagement session, yet the wedding is next month...some might argue that is a good sign...means I am busy, I suppose (if busy is good?! How about a sign that says "to the beach-->" now that is what I call a good sign in the middle of winter!) Anywho, enough of my ranting, let me rave for a minute about these two love birds. They were super good sports during this session. Let me tell you, everyone thinks they are good for two hours, but usually fall out around 1 and 1/2...and I don't blame 'em...I could shoot all evening, but let's be realistic, the guys are usually done in 20 mins. Keith, cheers to you, though, you allowed your wife-to-be and I continue the madness for most of the evening! I had a blast designing a guestbook for this couple, too! Keith and Nicole, I thank you both for the opportunity to work with you. I am so happy you are enjoying your images and I can't wait for the wedding!! Patrick & Ahsley's Wedding

Patrick and Ashley...where to begin? Well, let me start by saying that the reason I was at this wedding was because of my father. He knows Patrick & Ashley because he stops by their family business almost daily. He heard of their engagement, passed out my business card and suggested they give me a call...and the rest is history. So, thanks Papa Frank - once again, you were in my corner. My dad also claims to be the reason my husband and I are together, but I will save that for a later date...love ya pops. :o) On to the good stuff - This wedding was all about LOVE with a capital L. I am totally not just saying that either, I mean you could FEEL the love. When Ahsley cried during the ceremony when they read their vows...I cried. When she danced with her father and invited all the little girls who were watching from the sidelines to join them...I cried. When Patrick's Aunt gave what I thought was quite possibly the best speech I have ever heard at a wedding, guess what, I cried. When little Eliott fell asleep on her momma's chest and she kissed her precious little head, I took a picture first, and then I cried. I don't know if it is just the genuine nature of these two or what, but I was only with them for a day and I could feel their closeness to each other and their daughter like it was just as present as their physical selves. I was so glad to be able to capture this in their photos, like the one above of the three of them, love it... To you, Patrick and Ashley and your sweet babygirl, Eliott, I wish you good times and a lot of laughter. You are so deserving of a beautiful life together. Cheers. Amy & Jason's Engagement

Jason and Amy sitting in a tree...k-i-s-s-i-n-g... Just a little sidenote here, Jason and Amy have already tied the knot as I type this. To be fair to me, I am not THAT far behind on the blog...I am a little behind, yes, but they decided they wanted to shoot a session sort of 'last minute'. I am so glad they did, I was able to pull together a guestbook from these images that seemed to be a huge hit at the wedding, so I was glad I was able to do that for them. I am not kidding, I think at least 30 people came up to me and asked me about that book! You two totally rocked the camera! So, I won't talk about the wedding here (although it's hard to keep it in, what an amazing night) but I want to simply thank this couple for allowing me to photograph them. I know you were both pretty nervous about it all, but the photos show you did a super job of hiding it. I truly think that this is a good example of the point I try to get across to new clients. The engagement session, while fun and totally productive, provides you a chance to get the nerves out. A chance to get comfortable. I can't stress that enough. If you only knew how this couple warmed up to me on their wedding day...like the shot of Amy licking frosting off of his nose...and the one...oh wait, I will save that for the wedding photos post!!! To see more of this couple, visit their wedding website I created at www.lisaorsi.printroom.com/010910 P.S. A shout out to my sister in law, Diane. Thanks for telling Amy that she should take a look at my website!

Ford & Kally's Engagement

Ford and Kally...another couple this year that attended a wedding I shot. This is sort of the theme this year! Gotta tell you a little something about that picture up there, the one on the top. This is cool, you're gonna love this. So, we decided to just walk around because I kind of do that, walk, stop, shoot, walk, stop, shoot, sometimes with no real plan in mind as to where I want to go next. It works for me! So, anyway, we are walking and Ford says to me, "Right around that corner is where I proposed to her." I was like, no way...cause really, I was kind of leading us around, like I said, with no real destination in mind. So, we went around the corner and I began to see perfect symmetry with strong lines, vivid colors, it was perfect. I just knew these images would be special. So, I decided to take a step back, to sort of leave them alone for a minute. I really wanted these particular images to be genuine, to be about their love for each other. I mean, this was a photographer's dream moment... Not only did I have a perfect little spot to shoot, but they were about to add that element that I strive for, that real-ness that you simply can't fake. They were about to reminisce and transport their hearts to that day she said 'yes.' For this reason, that is one of my favorite photos from this day. Ford and Kally, I thank you for the opportunity to spend such a wonderful day with you and I can't wait for your wedding! Sean & Brianna's Engagement

I met Sean and Brianna while they were in wedding I was shooting last summer! Can I toot my own horn here for a second?! Just kidding, well, they must have had a good time because they hired me a few months later and we set out on a gorgeous fall day to enjoy the weather and get to know each other. Sean and Brianna have decided to head to where it's warm and sunny all the time to have their wedding ceremony. Sadly, they will not be taking me with them to Key West...but I do, however, get to meet back up with them at a reception to be held here in Omaha after they return...or should I say, IF they return! During their session, they decided to include their babies, two beautiful pups! We had so much fun with them, they were very well behaved, well, until the big one (forgive me for not remembering their names :o) almost dove in the drink after a swan looked at him the wrong way and started making some noise. Oh, and I shot this session on my birthday...so thanks Sean and Brianna for spending some time with me on my birthday. Hey, I know what you could get me as a belated birthday present...one ticket to Key West, you can just pick me up on your way to the airport. Seriously, though, I wish you both a wonderful time while you are there celebrating your marriage and enjoying the
beach! To see more of this couple, visit their wedding website at www.lisaorsi.printroom.com/030510

Ryan & Britt's Engagement

The image above, the one on top, it just does it for me, it's a fav. Let me explain. When I shoot an engagement session, I try to sometimes capture those moments that happen when you're not thinking it's a moment at all. I call it the 'in between'. It's that time in between shots that often makes the best images. In this instance, one might think that the kiss is the shot I am after, but actually, I was trying to get the 'in between'. The image is really very simple in nature, yet seems to give us more than just a look between two people in love. You might be able to draw emotion from the scene, maybe formulate an idea of what will happen next. This type of imagery draws the viewer in a little deeper, allows you to not just look at the photo, but possibly relate to the people IN the photo...and THAT is why it's a favorite of mine. Because I can't just look at it, it actually makes me think about who these two might be and what they might be thinking or feeling, and it speaks of their relationship to each other. So, now that your photo viewing history lesson is over, let me introduce the lovely couple, Ryan and Britt. Two spectacular people who are fun loving and energetic, to say the least. They rocked the camera, as you can see, and I can't wait for their wedding next year! Oh, and Ryan, you totally nailed the Zoolander look a few times, good job! LOL. I know you were actually trying for that...Britt, you just look beautifully natural in pictures, can't wait to see you in white! To you both, thank you for the opportunity to work with you, I had a great time and hope you did, too!! To see more of Ryan and Britt, go to the website I created for them at www.lisaorsi.printroom.com/070310

Nate & Kara's Engagement

Have you ever heard that song 'Bubbly'? That song totally reminds me of these two. "Cause every time I see your bubbly fa-ah-a-ace, I get the tingles in a silly place. It's starts in my toes, and I crinkle my nose, wherever it goes, I always know that you make me smile..." Well, if you are a girl, and most of the people who read my blog are, then you know the song. It's happy and sweet and just plain good stuff. So, Kara and Nate and I had a good time, they were so 'into' this session, it was adorable. I think they even forgot I was there a few times, kissing and talking and kissing again... Ok, so there is one thing, though, that I am sad about. They are getting married in a different state, so I will not be shooting their wedding next year. :( I am so glad, though, that you found me to do your session for you, it was a pleasure to work with you both. So, cheers to you, Nate and Kara, and I thank you for being so YOU for this session and letting me be creative...such wholesome happy folk you two are! I love it! Anna's Senior Pix

OMG, seriously, I don't know where to begin. Anna, before being my super fab client, was my neighbor, is my children's babysitter, is also one of our best friend's niece, is my personal fashion consultant (actually, I just steal fashion ideas from her without her knowing) and most of all, I consider her a dear friend. Oh, and she could be my 'in' to meeting Derek Jeter someday, but that is a long story...ok, I will tell, sorry Anna, this post is supposed to be about you, but I can't help myself, my love for the Yanks is infiltrating the post all on it's own. Her brother plays minor league baseball for a Yankee affiliate team...and when he is called up, guess what, I got two words....road trip. Nuff said. Ok, so Anna, back to you. I love love loved having the opportunity to take these senior pix. After shooting Katy's pix a while back, her sister, who is now attending Creighton, I felt honored to now be asked to take Anna's. So, Anna Banana, (sorry, I had to) I love you, girlfriend and you have no idea how much I admire you and your sister, your whole family for that matter. You are a super role model for my kids, a genuine soul, and I am blessed to have you in my life. Enjoy these years, cause one day you'll be old like me and wondering where they went! Ryan & Meagan's Wedding

2 teachers + 2gether = 4ever - This was written in huge letters accross the back of the school bus. Need I say more? So cool, guys, seriously. They decided there just wouldn't be a more appropriate way for two teachers to leave the ceremony...than in a school bus. It's stuff like this that is soooo awesome. I just love it when weddings get personal...and this wedding was all about that! So, two things...first of all, I happen to have a teaching degree, for those of you who don't know that, so I blended in real well with this wedding party, except, well, minus those enourmous cameras I had strapped to my neck. Second, I saw a girl that I went to college with. We had serveral teaching classes together and we are about the same age....dat dat da da da, seems like yesterday, but it was long ago...sorry, I broke into a little Bob Segar there for a minute. Anyway, get this, I asked her if she was teaching and she said yes. I said something like, so you must work with Meagan or Ryan? She said, no, actually, I taught Meagan. WHOA. Think about THAT for minute. I was like, uh, thanks, now I feel so totally old. LOL! Ok, so another cool thing that happened to me during this wedding...I was driving behind "the bus" and people, of course, we honking and whatnot, cause it was so cutely decorated, I was really not listening to the honks until this one truck next to me just would not lay off the horn!!! So, as I looked over ready to give that dude-what-are-you-doing-look....it was my husband and kids, not honking at the bus, rather at me!!! I was so glad they got to see the bus, though, the kids thought it was neat that Mama Lisa was following the bus for 'work'. Ok, so enough about me, on to Ryan and Meagan...CONGRATS my friends, thank you for the opportunity to document your most awesomest day!!! (Is awesomest a word?) Carlos & Mandy's Engagement

Carlos and Mandy live their days near the sandy beaches of Virginia...and would you believe they flew all the way to Omaha just to see ME! Ok, well, and some family, I suppose, but just let me think what I want to think, makes me feel loved anyway. So, we met up and they proceeded to...uh, well, sneak me onto the air force base. Carlos is a fireman who used to work on the base here in Omaha, so we went back to see his old buddies. One of them, and I apologize, I don't remember this kind man's name, but he pulled out the ladder truck and patiently waited while I snapped some shots. We were a little restricted, in that he wouldn't let Mandy climb on the firetruck, or go anywhere near the ladder, which would have been a super cool picture, but I completely understand the liability issues there, and we got quite a few shots, none the less. Then we headed off base to take some more in the park. It was a beautiful day for pictures and I can't wait for their wedding next year! Thanks to you both and to the guys at the fire house! Oh, and can I just say, I LOVE the picture up there of Carlos holding the fireman's hat up in front of them kissing... 2CUTE! Cary and Jen's Engagement

Spunk. You two got some serious spunk. I can not wait for your wedding! These two are so energetic and it seriously rubs off on ya! I had so much fun walking and talking and getting to know them...along with taking their pictures, I totally lost track of time. I finally asked if they were sick of me after almost two hours and if I remember right, I think they said NO! Cary said he really liked symetrical stuff, straight lines, easy on the eyes kind of pix, Jen wanted fun and natural shots, I think I was able to pull off the best of both worlds! I absolutely LOVE that pic up there on the right (which is cropped because I didn't have enough room, the couple is actually centered in the full size pic, which can be seen in their gallery). I enjoy playing with shapes and when this scene presented itself to me...I ran with it. The pattern of the entryways in the brick seem to lead your eye straight through the scene, forcing your eye to stop and focus on them alone. It's one of my new favs, for sure! Cary and Jen have asked me to design their wedding invitations and save the date magnets, which I am looking forward to! Thanks to the both of you for a wonderful evening. Jeff & Molly's Wedding

Jeff and Molly, Congrats to you both! Talk about fun, OMG, this was a fun wedding...you two should write the book on fun, no kidding. I don't know what it was about Jeff, but this guy could not keep his feet on the ground!! When he jumped up and clicked his heels (which you can see the pic on their website, the link is below...) I swear this was not scripted. In fact, we were all walking back to the limo and I ran ahead to get the 'gang' walking back and I don't think he even knew I had my camera up and aimed, but then he jumped and I was so glad I got that shot. I caught him doing kartwheels and at the end of the night he was hoisted above the dancefloor at one point, again, feet in the air! Molly, how do you keep up with him!? Wait, I know, you laugh, with him, not at him...of course. Molly was so laid back on her wedding day, smiling and laughing and enjoying the day. How awesome, she seriously understood the importance soaking it all in. The day will fly by, might as well enjoy it. Molly and Jeff took my suggestion and hired Mike Kolker of Audiosceneryonline.com Some of you may have heard me rave about Mike on Facebook or other parts of this blog, but I seriously can't say enough about the guy. It's just one of those things, when you're good, people should know about you. I have the pix to prove it was one great party (and I am sure Jeff and Molly would agree, job well done, Mike!) Well, many many thanks to the bride and groom, so happy to have been a part of your day. Travis & Leah's Wedding

What a great day this was! The weather couldn't have been more perfect...as Travis and Leah rode away in a beautiful classic convertable. Driving behind them and watching her veil blow in the wind, it was like a clip from a movie. I couldn't help but pick up my camera and snap off a few pics...but don't tell my husband about this, he gets mad when I check my text messages while driving! (I don't respond to them, just check them ;o) Well, we had a great day of shooting and I was able to capture some very real moments at this wedding, one of which was when Leah swung her son around the dance floor, my favorite picture of the day! (This picture is on their wedding website...see the link below.) To the happy couple and their beautiful son, I wish you all a lifetime of smiles and I thank you all for allowing me to share your wedding day with you! Cody's Senior Pix

Ok, well, can I just say that I love that pic up there with the football helmet...I mean I am not trying to toot my own horn, cause we all know that pictures are just as much about the subject as they are the photographer (thank you Cody for being such a good subject ;o) It's just that we shot at the right time of the day and having him stand straight on with a slight smile, but not a huge smile...and well, sometimes I see a pic in my head, but it turns out slightly different than I planned. That isn't the case here, I saw this opportunity as he picked up his helmet and it photographed just how I envisioned. On another note, Cody is a super nice guy. Given that I have a 6 year old starting out in sports, I had a few questions to ask of this well-rounded athlete. He was more than willing to take the time to tell me his story (which is impressive, how he manages all those activities and is still able to text ten thousand times a month is beyond me.) Cody, I wish you the best in both your althletic and academic ventures. To see more of this session, visit the website I created for Cody at www.lisaorsi.printroom.com/codyspix

Troy & Kristi's Wedding

Troy and Kristi picked a beautiful June day to celebrate their marriage. In small town Iowa, they gathered friends and family for a night of outdoor fun with tiki torches, singing, auctioning, tons of great food, drinks and plenty of laughs. I was having so much fun capturing the night with my camera, it became hard for me to leave. I truly felt like I was amongst old friends, but with a long drive ahead of me back to Omaha, I knew I should get going. I am sure the party lasted well into the night. Troy and Kristi, thank you for allowing me to be a part of such a happy event in your lives. I admire your 'realness' and your ability to cut loose and enjoy each other and those around you. I wish you many beautiful sunsets to hop on your bikes and ride off into... To see more of this couple, visit the wedding website I created for them at www.lisaorsi.printroom.com/062009

Ross & Shawn's Wedding

COTTON CANDY, CONVERSE SNEAKERS, CONFETTI, SCRABBLE, POPCORN, CHEESECAKE, FLIP-FLOPS, FIELDS OF GRASS and PLENTY OF SUNSHINE...someone could seriously write a song about this wedding. It was amazingly fun and full of surprises. Shawn and Ross did some serious planning to make sure that the day was just perfect for their guests. They even provided lemonade for their guests during the outdoor ceremony, a simple, yet surprisingly nice gesture on a warm day. There were also a few surprises for the bride and groom...like the redneck limo (a beat up old pick-up truck with antlers on the grill, cans streaming from the bumper and old lawn chairs duct taped to the bed...oh, and streamers, can't forget the streamers) that showed up instead of the stretch Ford Excursion they had ordered. A hilarious joke put on by the parents of the bride and groom after much discussion as to whether a limo was even a necessity for the day. Of course, the real limo then showed up shortly thereafter to take this couple to a reception filled with popcorn centerpieces and cotton candy on a stick. Talk about memorable. I doubt anyone who attended will soon forget this wedding! Shawn and Ross, thank you so much for all your time, your good humor, your wonderful smiles. I thought it was so perfect when we were out strolling through the fields and the two of you were chatting and laughing...I think I asked you to get a little closer to each other, and when you didn't respond, I noticed that you had forgotten I was there... perfect. That totally made me smile inside and reminded me that I was asked to be a part of something so special. A couple so in love, just minutes before their marriage ceremony...to be united forever in love. I hated to interrupt that moment, but when I finally did, (cause I didn't want us to run late) you laughed and said, 'Oh, yeah, we're taking pictures!' LOVE IT! I have soo many favorite images from this wedding...so take a peek at the wedding website I created for them at www.lisaorsi.printroom.com/053009

Joey & Kayla's Engagement

Can I just say, I fell in love with these two the minute I met them. They told me that they wanted to have a session in a natural setting (wood, greenery, water) rather than one with an industrial feel (brick, iron, city life)...so we ventured to a little spot, which will remain unnamed for now...cause I don't want anyone to steal my spot...selfish, I know...but it was so perfect and pretty much untouched... So, Joey said to me about three minutes after we met, "You're not gonna make me climb any trees, are you?!" I laughed and said, "Not unless you want to..." Then we start to head into the forest and wow... an enourmous tree had fallen and created a bridge like structure and guess who was the first one climbing up that trunk? Yes, Joey, Kayla followed like a champ. It was like they couldn't resist, I didn't even say a word, I just watched them climb and smiled. After a little while, I even decided to climb up there myself, cameras and all. That is when I got that shot up there in the bottom right corner. I did not pose them for this, they were all nestled and comfy on their own in each others arms. (And you two said you didn't know what you were doing?!) On the way back to the car, I was a little nervous about asking them to go jump into the tall grass, but we walked by a place that I had stopped once before on the way in...I think Kayla could read me because she offered to stop there again before I even asked. She jumped in the grass with flip flops like it was nothin. Snapped that pic up there on the bottom left, LOVE IT. It's funny because sometimes I see something, but then scrap the idea thinking it would be uncomfortable for them or maybe they would think I am crazy...but I love it when my couples give me their trust, it allows me to create some great images. So, my hats off to you, Joey and Kayla, for allowing me to laugh with you and have such a fun time. You look great in your pics and I can't wait for your wedding! Jeff & Erin's Wedding

Jeff and Erin, Congrats, from the bottom of my heart. You are two amazing individuals and one beautiful couple! I am so glad, Erin, that we have gotten to know each other the way we did in this past year, all the texts, emails, smiles and 'proofs'...lol. Erin ordered almost every product I have to offer before her wedding; guestbook, invitations, save the date postcards, programs, a wedding website, and the list goes on...I am actually in the process of creating their thank you cards! I have to say, when I take on all those 'extras' with my brides, we begin to develop a relationship, a friendship, if you will. I didn't know Erin or Jeff before they hired me, but by the day of their wedding, I felt like I was amongst friends. It makes it very exciting for me to finally shoot the much anticipated wedding...and as I have said before in my blogs, I get a little sad once the day is over. (I really hope all my past brides keep in touch. I am on facebook, if any of you want to become my 'friend'!) So, at Erin and Jeff's wedding, LOVE was certainly the theme...the love between a mother and her son, a father and his daughter, brothers and sisters, lifelong friends...it was apparent in the speeches, the dances, the tears. Oh boy, were there tears. I tried so hard to keep myself composed, BUT when Erin's brother got up and asked for one last dance with her because he felt that not only was their father giving her away today, he was, too...wow, I lost it. I seriously couldn't see through the viewfinder of my camera, I had mascara running and everything. It wasn't just a tear or two, I was all out crazy crying and trying to go unnoticed and trying to get a grip and trying to find a kleenex. None of which I succeeded at, so I decided to wipe my mascara-filled tears from my face with my bare arm, blinked until I could see again, wiped the tears from my camera back on my shirt (I wore black, thank goodness) and get right in there and shoot away in the moment. Well, I could seriously go on and on, but I will wrap it up here... You two are surrounded by some truly awesome people, cherish them everyday, as you will each other, I am sure. Cheers to you both! Tom & Kiera's Engagement

Ok, so Kiera and Tom are simply a beautiful couple, inside and out. I want to use them for a minute, though, to explain a little bit about the way I work an engagement session. Kiera mentioned that they aren't 'photogenic' and that I should direct them so they know what they need to be doing. I told her that I would let them know if I needed them to do anything other than what they were doing. I think they were a little nervous at first, but quickly warmed up to the idea of just 'hanging' out instead of being directed. Kiera and Tom did great, as you can see, but I know that some of my couples might feel frustrated because I am not telling them what to do, thinking that they may be wasting their time and won't like the pictures because they think that they couldn't possibly do well without instruction. I completely understand that, you expect me to direct you because you think that is my job and if I don't do it, I can't be doing a good job...when actually the opposite is true. I set up the scene and then wait for you to be yourselves, I wait for that perfect moment to take the picture. This is much harder than directing you, believe me, and I get more natural pictures by doing it this way. So, here's to all my brides who have an engagement session scheduled in the future....don't be nervous when I don't direct you a whole lot. I trust that you will do just fine without a whole lot of direction. After all, I want your photos to be about you, not about me. That is one reason why I shoot for almost 2 hours with you, gives you plenty of time to warm up to the camera! Oh, and Kiera, who was certainly thinking she was not doing a 'good' job while I was taking the photos, had this to say once she saw what I was seeing through the viewfinder. "I just wanted to say thank you again for my awesome engagement pictures! I emailed a bunch of friends and family and have received so many compliments on them! I can't stop smiling or looking at them! I could never narrow it down to just one favorite!" No, THANK YOU, Tom and Kiera, for trusting in me and for allowing yourselves to shine through in your photos. I know it was tough for you at first, but I am so glad you like them. I can't wait for your wedding this fall! To see more of this engagement session, visit www.lisaorsi.printroom.com/103109

Chris & Serena's Wedding

These two were a blast to be around. I truly enjoyed my time with you both! We had so much fun, they even invited me to their house in Florida by the end of the night! Who knows, I may just take you up on that offer...after this wedding season, a Florida vacation may be in order! Seriously, though, the bathtub photo above...how many brides would agree to that!? I wish I could take credit for the idea, but I want to thank that guy who had just come out of the bathroom and then suggested it to me on his way back to his table...thanks a ton, whoever you are! Oh and the funny thing is on our way into the bathroom, some people were sitting across the hall and seriously wondering why I was going into the bathroom with Chris and Serena...so on the way out I turned around and told Serena to flush the toilet. Just as I opened the door, she did and you should've heard the laughter coming from that table. All in good fun, right?! Well, Chris and Serena, I don't want your blog post to just be about toilets and bathtubs, as you certainly deserve better than that... LOL....You two have good spirits and relaxed attitudes. A perfect combination for a beautiful marriage. May you grow old together and share many sunsets on the beach! Cheers! Tyler & Michala's Engagement

Tyler and Michala picked a beautiful day to take pictures! We ventured out for a few hours, talking and enjoying the weather. I am very excited for their wedding day this fall, they will be having their reception at the Stockyards Building in South Omaha. If you've never seen that place, wow, it has amazing windows, hard wood floors and architecture...I have attended several weddings there, but this will be the first time I get to work there. You two look great in love...can't wait to get started on your guestbook! To see more of this couple, visit the wedding website I created for them at www.lisaorsi.printroom.com/082909

A tip from the PRO...listen up!

If you have never adjusted the coloring on your computer monitor since it came out of the box...chances are it needs it. Most monitors tend to have a blue cast straight out of the box. Here is a simple way to start seeing photos and websites the way they were meant to be seen! Take a photo that you have stored on your computer and have it printed. NOT ON YOUR PRINTER AT HOME, at a photo lab (Sam's Club or Walmart works just fine.) Do not use the little kiosk that spits out the photo instantly, that would be the same as using a home printer. I would suggest a photo that has sky and grass or some distinctive bold colors. Take that printed photograph and hold it up to your computer screen, preferrably during the day with natural light spilling in from the windows (more natural and less artificial light works best.) Using those little buttons on the bottom of your monitor, start making adjustments so that the screen matches the printed photograph. It will be impossible to get them to match completely, as the light on the screen is projected from behind and the light on the photograph is reflected light from the room, but it is possible to get them close, and for some, anything is better than what they have now! So, do this, and then when you view your photos online, you have a better chance of seeing them how they will be printed! Good luck!

Andy & Amy's Wedding

Andy & Amy were married in the middle of Nebraska in a tiny town on one very snowy day. Who would've guessed a blizzard in April, but I guess it happens. Some guests had to leave early for fear of not finding the country roads to get home in white-out conditions, most stayed to celebrate through many power outages and interruptions the evening had to bring. Through it all, came a group of people who didn't care if the lights were out, if the DJ wasn't playing music, if the toasts were given in the dark...they rallied around this couple to keep spirits high and laughter loud. They danced well into the morning hours after gathering a generator to put the DJ back in business. Andy & Amy, take it from a girl who happens to crash weddings just about every week...while your wedding day may have turned out very different than what you had planned, you have something that very few couples get to walk away with...memorability. A few months after the wedding is over, most guests will not remember the color of the bridesmaids dresses, what flowers you were holding or the party favors provided, but they will remember the experience, the people. Who could ever forget the guys serenading the crowd in the darkness by the light of a blackberry (with lyrics from the internet)?! You two have amazing friends and beautiful families, and in the end, isn't that what a wedding is all about anyway? Hope you enjoyed your time on the beach...far far away from the snow and cold! Andy and Amy, here's to you, to your future together, CHEERS!

Travis & Leah's Engagement

Leah and Travis, you two got it going on...I don't know what you were talking about..."We're not photogenic" they told me. Look at you two, you acted as if I wasn't even there at times. That kiss Travis gave her to get that awesome shot in the middle there was not scripted at all. It's a funny thing, but it's the pictures in between the pictures you think I am trying to get that are the best ones. If that makes any sense at all! I try to catch you in a moment when you think I am not trying to take your picture. Never fails, those are always my favs. Like the one on the bottom with the bridge in the background. They both looked directly into the camera and I took a few pictures, then just when they thought I was adjusting the camera and ready to move on, a breeze hit (since we were by the river) and she cuddled up to him saying she was cold. Snap. This image doesn't even compare to the ones where they are looking into the camera. So, don't think you are photogenic?! Don't worry, you don't have to be, just be yourselves, you'd be surprised at just how great you look being in love. Travis, Leah, thanks...you two were such good sports, shooting for almost 2 hours. I can't wait to finish your guestbook and celebrate your wedding day with you. To see more of this couple, visit their wedding website that I created at www.lisaorsi.printroom.com/062709 (ps. I think that photo on the left up there is one of my new favorite engagement photos...love it!)

Kevin & Kristi's Wedding

MY OH MY...what a beautiful wedding this was. Kristi and Kevin, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your day. The ceremony was a small gathering at Lucile's in the old market. As you can see from the photos, Lucile's offers an eclectic, yet elegant style that is all it's own. The setting added just the right touch to make this wedding feel very intimate. The reception was held at the Scottish Rite building downtown...again, a lovely place for such a beautiful couple. I didn't know it before the wedding, but the bride's brother, Matt, happens to work with my husband...so it was nice to see some familiar faces there! (And I hope your wife's toe is healing nicely...she was a bridesmaid and ended up going to the hospital after someone stepped on her toe...ouch!) Oh, and I saw my financial advisor at this wedding, too, and got to meet his lovely wife. My world just keeps getting smaller and I love it! To see more of this wedding, visit Kevin and Kristi's wedding website that I created for them at www.lisaorsi.printroom.com/032809 **If you would like to talk with Amy at Lucile's about having your wedding ceremony or reception there, tell her I sent you! www.lucilesoldmarket.com - I would love to shoot there again. I believe the capacity is somewhere around 100 people, great for an intimate ceremony or reception. To the happy couple and their beautiful daughter...thanks again...enjoy reliving your day in photos.

NEW Graphic Design Website

I know what you are thinking...that launching two websites in the same week must mean I have too much time on my hands. My pro friends say to me, How do you find the time? Well, actually, it just appears that way...this website was something I worked on over the winter. I have been patiently waiting to launch this all new site, working on it about ten to twenty minutes at a time...it's taken me many months to complete. I created all of the graphics myself, and as you can see, I have an office theme going on. File folders, paper clips...but wait til you see the latte. Yes, I just had to include a latte. I mean, we live in the land of Starbucks addicts, who doesn't love Starbucks?! Well, I have to admit, I have only been to Starbucks a handful of times, but it always puts a little pep in my step, it's good stuff. Oh and a Blackberry, I put a balckberry on the homepage because, personally, I am a Blackberry addict. I am getting off task here, where was I... So, I am very excited to offer this website to my clients, both future and current. Current clients no longer need to email me their orders, with the chance of them getting lost in the tons of emails I get daily. Instead, you can now place an order directly from this website! I have to say, aside from the latte, the new order form is what I am most excited about... so, go check it out! http://www.lisaorsi.com/ & enter graphic design site.

New Photography Website

Well, I am happy to announce that I have given my photography website a much needed makeover. Honestly, I can't remember the last time I updated that site... as a graphic designer...hmmm...well, shame on me. I guess that means I have been busy?! Thanks to all of you!! I have been super busy with weddings and engagement sessions, but I set aside a little time here and there to update the site and I am really excited with the results. However, I didn't have enough time to go back and pull out my archives and add a ton of photos to the site, but I decided to add a few that represented my style and I think people will realize my capabilities with just 10 photos on the site, or at least I hope they will. Most of my portrait clients come to me through a referral, so they have seen my work and do not rely on the website to see what I can do for them. Anywho, I had fun creating the graphics for this site, so check it out! www.lisaorsi.com & enter my photography website. (I couldn't resist putting my two babes right there on the shelf...yes, those are my children on the homepage <:o)

Best Wedding Reception...Ever! by Peter Merry

I had the pleasure of meeting Peter Merry last night, along with many other fine executives in the wedding industry. Peter spoke at the Marriott Regency Hotel during a N.A.C.E. meeting. (N.A.C.E. is a national organization of wedding vendors, this meeting was for the local chapter.) Peter talked about the trends in the industry and the important role each vendor plays in the overall feel of a wedding reception. He explains in his book how each person involved can make or break the deal, from the MC to the caterers and everyone in between. Aside from the importance of hiring reputable vendors to become a part of your wedding day, he talks in his book about brides and grooms 'creating' their fun. There are so many wonderful things you can do to ensure you have a good night, leaving this job entirely to the MC/DJ is not always a good idea. Peter explains how to take control of the fun, grab it by the horns and watch your guests laugh with you. I have not read this book, but after hearing Peter talk about it (he has also done stand-up, so you can only imagine) I can tell you it might be the best $30 spent before your wedding. During the presentation, I laughed, I CRIED, yes, and if you are reading this and you were there, you cried, too, you know you did...and I also felt like I wanted to get up and start dancing! He showed us video from weddings where he was the MC and I am not kidding you, when the video was over I wanted another drink, let's get this party started!! I'd say that was effective, I felt for a moment like I was there! To purchase this book, go to http://www.thebestweddingreceptionever.com/ - I want to thank Tracy Diehl of Florals Etcetera for inviting me to this beautiful event. Tracy and I met after running into each other two weekends in a row at weddings. She is a wonderful florist, a true professional and certianly my-kind-of-people. To visit Tracy's website, go to http://www.floralsetcetera.com/ If you talk with her, tell her I sent you! Happy Planning!

Ruby's Portrait Session

Most of my blog posts are about wedding and engagment work, because, honestly, it's what I do the most of...but who doesn't love a little break every now and then?! I just love it when someone asks me to photograph their baby, (or babies, as was the case with the triplets I shot a little over a year ago.) So, Ruby's mom, Amy, asked me if I would take her 6 month photos. One look at her sweet face and how could anyone say no!? Thanks Ruby, I enjoyed my time with you, I am so glad you love the camera! ;o) If you are interested in a baby session, just call me at 402.981.6907 or email me from my website at http://www.lisaorsi.com/. I can also create one of a kind baby announcements. Click here for a sample and read my post about baby Joshua's announcements.

Rusty & Abby's Wedding

Rusty and Abby, what can I say...well, let me start by saying it gets a little tough to keep my focus when I can't see a thing through the viewfinder of my camera. Let me explain. Abby came out of a french door onto a grand balcony. She gracefully walked across the balcony where she met her father at the top of the stairs, took his arm and they began down the tall staircase into the courtyard of the Magnolia Hotel. She started to cry. I started to cry. They got to the bottom of the stairs and walked down the side of the courtyard to approach the back of the isle. By the time they started walking down the isle, I couldn't see a thing. I snapped pictures blindly until I could reach the back of the isle to gain my composure. Now, I have teared up many times doing this job...but this grand entrance was just long enough for you to really soak in the depth of what was about to happen. Just enough time to feel the closeness between the bride and her father, to see the pride on his face. Then to see Abby and Rusty's eyes meet, the love in their eyes... and really feel the tenderness of that moment when her father gives his daughter to her new groom. If you were there, you saw it, too, and chances are, if you are a girl, I am gonna guess you were crying, too! Abby & Rusty, I thank you for your trust in hiring me, it was an honor to witness your marriage. To a future of happy tears and good times, cheers! To visit Rusty & Abby's website, go to www.lisaorsi.printroom.com/031409 (The wedding photos are coming soon!) p.s. If you follow my blog, you may have read my post about Mike Kolker of Audioscenery. Mike is a DJ, one of the best I have seen, and I have seen my share... Abby's mom, Chris, took my advice and hired Mike. Everyone was having so much fun and with a full dance floor at midnight, Mike says they asked him to stay later. You don't see that too often! Way to rock the house, Mike! For more about Audioscenery, visit Mike's website at http://www.audiosceneryonline.com/

Matt & Katie's Wedding

A great start to a new season of weddings... Matt and Katie were married on a cold and snowy day, but I am here to tell you, there was nothing but warm smiles and love on this day before Valentine's Day. It was a pleasure to have been a part of this day. To the happy couple and their sweet little boy, I wish you a lifetime of goodness. You both have such wonderful families and their love and support is so apparent. To see more of this wedding, visit their website at www.lisaorsi.printroom.com/021309 p.s. Alyssa, Matt's sister, hired me to photograph her marriage to Corey last year, so it was nice to see you two again! :o) So, see you at the next wedding?! Well, if you don't have another family wedding, you'll have to call me for the family reunion!!

Chris & Jamie's Wedding

Chris and Jamie...ahhh...this is another wedding that has left me speechless. I would not be good at giving a speech if I were ever in a wedding. I am not kidding, some of these blogs take me forever to type. I sit and think, then type and backspace...it's silly, I know. Ok, here I go. First of all, I wish you two all the joy your huge hearts can hold. You are amazing together and so much FUN! Laughter does make the world go round and I believe you two got that down! I have enjoyed every minute I got to spend with you, from your engagement session to the very end of your wedding reception! With live music, I just couldn't leave...it was a celebration of love and friendship, good times with a little rock -n- roll! Besides, I happened to be celebrating a little something myself that day...my birthday. Yes, that's right, I couldn't say no after Jamie told me that she just had to have me shoot her wedding! If you scroll down in my blogs, you'll find that I worked on my own wedding anniversary this year, too. I don't think I will have this issue come up for a few years, though, it certainly made for a memorable year. I just love what I do, and I have met some really neat people, so I don't mind it at all. This wedding was the last one I shot for this year, what a perfect way to end a great year. Thank you again, Chris and Jamie, for the smiles and for treating me like an old friend. Keep in touch!

Rusty & Abby's Engagement

As I type this blog, I can hear the wind howling outside, it's below freezing and I am cold just thinking about it. Winter is here for sure, but it was a few short weeks ago that Rusty, Abby and I ventured out on a beautiful day to take some great photos. When we met, they both told me that they were not 'good' in front of a camera. Funny thing is, that is what most of my couples tell me when they first meet me, so you're not alone. My response was, "Well, that is because you've never had the right photographer!" :^) It doesn't take long, though, before the real deal starts pouring out...the smiles, the laughter (the kisses!)...Rusty and Abby, you two looked like models by the end of the session! You were so natural in front of the camera! I can't wait for your wedding at the fabulous Magnolia Hotel next year...happy planning! Check out more of Rusty and Abby at www.lisaorsi.printroom.com/031409
